Who We Are

Reporting to the Director of CPG Marketing, the Marketing Manager, CPG Innovation will play an integral role on the consumer marketing team and contribute to the ongoing growth trajectory of Peet’s CPG business.  The Marketing Manager’s primary responsibility will be to bring new products to market that delight coffee lovers with a better coffee experience and drive incremental sales. Responsibilities include concept generation, consumer testing, commercialization, package development, launch and post launch evaluation.  This person will work closely with the R&D, Insights, Category Management, Sales and Creative Services teams. This is a full-time, exempt level role.

What You Will Do

  • Manage consumer division coffee portfolio roadmap: Oversee execution of coffee line extensions, including bagged coffee, K-Cup® pods and Nespresso-compatible capsules in the CPG and DTC channels.
  • Partner with R&D to bring great-tasting, high quality coffee products to life that meet financial objectives for sales, gross margin and profitability.
  • Conduct product research: Develop and test product concepts, positioning, claims, packaging, and product names.  Partner with R&D on consumer sensory research.
  • Work with Insights and Analytics team to identify learning agendas to drive stronger understanding of the consumer and new product focus. Stay up to date on coffee category trends and competitive new product launches
  • Day-to-day project management: Create and manage all project timelines. Run weekly timeline meetings and constantly collaborate with cross-functional partners – creative, packaging, inventory, R&D - to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Lead CPG packaging changes: Partner with internal creative team to develop packaging for new items and drive packaging improvements for existing items
  • Engage with Sales and Category Management teams to develop new items sales materials

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of CPG Marketing experience, with experience in CPG Innovation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field; MBA preferred
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial, can-do mindset and strong drive for results
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, able to take on multiple projects, work against timelines.
  • Solid strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills with proven expertise in problem solving
  • Ability to distill complex problems and recommendations in easily digestible, cohesive management-friendly presentations
  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and leadership
  • Solid understanding of product P&Ls
  • Experience turning consumer insights into actionable new product or marketing executions.
  • Proficiency with using and interpreting syndicated data (IRI or Nielsen) is a plus
